Believing You Can Learn Bass Guitar
First things first understanding the anatomy of the instrument can really help your cause. The bass guitar is primarily made up of the neck, body, headstock, nut and the tuning pegs located at the edges of the neck. The neck is where you will find the frets and strings that create the powerful bass tone. The headstock is that part where you can tune the strings using the tuning pegs.
The typical bass guitar contains four different strings; each representing four different notes and arranged as follows; E, A, D and G. And just like other instruments out there, there are some common terms that you have to familiarize yourself with. One of these is fretting, a particular style of playing where you get to hold and release two strings at the same time to produce a particular note. The best way to do this is to place your thumb at the back of the neck and angling your finger on the fret board. This is very much different from plucking, as you play each string individually to play a note. Depending on their playing style, bassists can either choose to use a pick when playing notes or use their fingers to play much better music.
Ideal Ways to Learn Guitar Fast
As you learn to play bass guitar, you will also learn the importance of proper handling and positioning of your instrument for ease, comfort and efficiency. Achieving these early on will help you learn guitar fast. To start with, play notes without touching the fret board. Plucking the thickest string among the four which is also normally above them will give you an E note, the next one an A, followed by the D note on the third string and the G note on the fourth and thinnest string of them all. This style of play is commonly referred to as an open style of play. As you pluck and play with the notes of the different strings, place the index finger of your other hand (the fret hand in this case) on the string against the space in between frets of the guitar's neck so you can produce more higher notes. Each space in between the frets will give you different notes used when playing music. Your fingers will be stiff playing with the chords and notes at first, but with more practice, you'll notice fluidity in it.
These are just the basics when you learn bass guitar. And you have lots of wonderful things to learn and master. As you are already comfortable with the plucking and fretting techniques, you can now move on to more complicated playing styles that will definitely add flavor to the music. Learn now and play with confidence.
